Empowered Intelligence

About

Empowered Intelligence was founded on fourteen years of engineering practice and on one conviction: a system is not finished until it has been shown to behave.

The practice began in audio, in a production studio built to give independent artists technical infrastructure they could not otherwise reach. That work was systems engineering under another name: signal chains, failure modes, and the discipline of getting something right when there is no second take.

Our founder, Isaiah Marshall, serves as lead software engineer, sole engineer, and named inventor on a patent-pending, AI-powered healthcare platform running in production in a HIPAA-regulated environment, and authored the technical specification, system architecture, and process documentation behind the filing. The platform runs language model orchestration with structured output under clinician review, retrieval grounded in live clinical records over HL7 FHIR, and client applications from iOS to desktop.

The firm also builds and ships its own products. Sanctuary Alert, a personal-safety application, is live on the App Store. Docatar, an AI patient intake platform, is in beta with pilot providers. Each was carried from design through release and every failure report since, and each is held to the standard we bring to client work: build the system, then prove it behaves.

How we work

Scope in writing

Every engagement begins with a written statement of work: what will exist when it ends, how it will be verified, and what it will cost. Changes are negotiated in the open and priced before they are built, never absorbed quietly and billed later.

Evidence over assurance

Done means tested, measured, and demonstrated. You receive the artifacts rather than a status report: the test suites, the measurements, the documented failure modes, and the record of what was done about each.

Honest fit

If the problem does not call for the solution you arrived with, or does not call for us, you hear that in the first meeting rather than after the invoice. A correct no is worth more than a billable maybe.

Direct accountability

You work directly with the engineers building your system. There is no handoff between a sales team and a delivery team, so nothing is lost in translation, and the people who made the commitments are the people who keep them.
